Belarusian representatives at the Inaugural Meeting of the Conference of Regional and Local Authorities for the Eastern Partnership (CORLEAP)

      On 8 — 9 September 2011 the Inaugural Meeting of the Conference of Regional and Local Authorities for the Eastern Partnership (CORLEAP) and the Meeting of the Committee of the Regions’ Bureau of the European Union were held. Ms Svetlana Herasimovich, member of the Council for Cooperation of Local Self-Government Bodies, Chairperson of Minsk Province Council of Deputies, Ms Yelena Podolyak, Deputy Chairperson of Vitebsk Province Council of Deputies and Mr Mikhail Kuish, Deputy of Brest Province Council of Deputies, took part in the events. 
      Ms Svetlana Herasimovich made a speech at the CORLEAP Meeting. She informed the delegates on the Council for Cooperation of Local Self-Government Bodies activities and development of the Local Self-Government system in the Republic of Belarus. Ms Svetlana Herasimovich emphasized the importance of promoting the international contacts in this field. 
      The participants of the meeting adopted the Recommendations to the Heads of State and Government gathering in Warsaw on 29 — 30 September 2011 for the Second Eastern Partnership Summit. 
      During participation in the events Ms Svetlana Herasimovich, Ms Yelena Podolyak and Mr Mikhail Kuish met with Mr Andreas Kiefer, CLRACE Secretary General, Ms Mercedes Bresso, Committee of the Regions President, and with the representatives of other Eastern Partnership and EU partner countries. The basic areas and priorities of the Local Self-Government Bodies development and other issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meetings.
